BESLER Launches NEW BVerified^SM Software Solutions

In 2011, BESLER launched the first of its BVerified^SM software solutions.  In early January, the company announced the general availability of its two newest tools:  BVerified^SM- Transfer DRG and BVerified^SM - IME.

BVerified^SM - Transfer DRG: automates the tedious identification and follow-up process required to validate the accuracy of Medicare post-acute care transfer discharge status values.  The required review of the Medicare Common Working File is completely automated. A flexible workflow tool guides the provider through the remaining follow-up tasks and ensures that final discharge status determinations are made in a compliant manner.  BESLER is always available as an option to be assigned the work associated with a particular task if the hospital so desires.  On average, BESLER finds that approximately 15% of transfer claims are underpaid, as CMS does not automatically audit transfer claims for underpayments. 

BVerified^SM - IME: automates the detection of additional Medicare Advantage Indirect Medical Education (IME) shadow bills.  Many hospitals have a process in place to automatically submit shadow bills for claims identified at registration as Medicare Advantage.  At times, however, this process can break down and Medicare Advantage claims go unbilled. BVerified^SM - IME finds these billing exceptions automatically. In BESLER’s experience, approximately 8-10% of IME shadow bills are not properly submitted. 

BESLER is the first company to offer these services via a software solution.  BESLER will continue to provide the services on a consulting basis.

The products are new, but the tools and expertise have been utilized internally for years in BESLER’s consulting engagements around Transfer DRG and IME shadow bills.  BESLER has recovered over $100 million for its clients using these services on a consulting basis.  The two new products have been developed to assist those providers that are addressing these issues internally.  Typically, these are hospital systems or large individual providers. 

For hospitals that are already handling the follow-up of Transfer DRG and / or IME shadow bills in-house, the use of these tools can make the process much more efficient and thorough.

All BVerified^SM solutions are web-based tools, and the implementation time is minimal.   After a subscription agreement is signed, the implementation can be completed in as little as three business days.
