BESLER Consulting Focusing on Readmissions
Technology and consulting expertise combine to assist providers in addressing this critical issue

(PRINCETON, NJ, August 12, 2011) BESLER Consulting, a leading financial and operational consultancy to healthcare providers, is pleased to announce their efforts to help its provider clients reduce readmissions and minimize the impact of potential lower reimbursement under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

“PPACA specifies a reduction in reimbursement for all Medicare discharges for providers with higher than expected readmission rates for certain conditions.  Over time, the payment reduction will increase to 3 percent, and the conditions included in the Hospital Readmission Reduction Program are expected to be expanded in fiscal year 2015, “ explained David Bongiovanni, Chief Executive Officer of BESLER Consulting. “Providers need to start looking at ways to reduce their preventable readmissions now.”

BESLER Consulting is approaching the problem from two angles.  The current BESLER consulting service is geared towards reducing preventable readmissions through the development of a comprehensive roadmap. The BESLER expertise in this area, including discharge planning and case management, facilitates the development of a roadmap that can be efficiently implemented and offers measurable results.

Later this year, the firm expects to release a new component in its BVerifiedSM suite of web-based products.  BVerifiedSM – Readmissions will help hospitals to identify patients at a high risk of readmission prior to discharge.  The product utilizes predictive modeling technology and combines large public claim data sets with provider-specific clinical and demographic data elements.  BVerifiedSM – Readmissions will provide its customers with a tool to best apply the enhancements that the BESLER Consulting services initiates.
