BESLER Consulting, a leading provider of comprehensive revenue integrity services to healthcare organizations, is pleased to announce that The University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson, AZ., has selected the company to assist in the identification of Medicare Transfer DRG underpayments.
Under Medicare reimbursement regulations, when certain patients are discharged to post acute care, the discharging hospital is paid at a reduced rate. In some cases, this reduced payment is not justified by the actual post-discharge care. These underpayments are not reflective of coding or billing errors on the part of the provider, but more commonly result from a change in the planned course of treatment subsequent to discharge.
BESLER uses proprietary software to efficiently work through the identification and follow-up tasks required to validate the accuracy of post-acute care transfer billing and to ensure compliance. BESLER also offers the BVerified℠ suite of web-based solutions, which allows providers to bring the work of identifying, prioritizing and recovering Medicare underpayments in-house.
After undergoing a rigorous review, BESLER’s Transfer DRG Revenue Recovery Service was recently awarded the “Peer Reviewed by HFMA®” designation by the Healthcare Financial Management Association *.
“Our proprietary Transfer DRG technology allows us to review every transfer claim to be sure our clients receive all of the revenue they’ve earned,” stated Jonathan Besler, BESLER’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “We’re looking forward to working with The University of Arizona Medical Center on the recovery of Transfer DRG underpayments.”
