We are currently seeking a Reimbursement Consultant. This position can work remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute to work projects in the areas of: Cost Reporting, DSH, Wage Index, Bad Debts, WS S-10, IME/GME, and Organ Acquisition.
  • Act in the role of Consultant for the product line activities, embodying the Core Values of the firm with equal responsibility and accountability to product line staff.
  • Must actively define need or problem, conduct research and analysis of data, in order to recommend solutions for clients.  Conclusions should be objective, logical and based on facts that have been collected and verified.
  • Maintain accurate and current activity reporting. Enter hours and expenses where applicable by project as soon as possible.  Enter clear and concise description of activities in time keeping system as appropriate.
  • Conduct client engagements, per the engagement methodology, and within the designated time period.  Inform Manager or Senior Manager of any potential delays that would impact the ability to complete assigned tasks within the allotted time.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships that continue to produce revenues for the firm over time.  Keep open lines of communication with active clients and keep clients abreast of new issues as they develop.
  • Assist in the development of specific recommendations and conclusions for the client. Conclusions should be objective, logical, and based on facts that have been collated and verified.
  • Maintain appropriate internal control safeguards over client records and collection of BESLER information.
  • Maintain compliance standards for providing accurate information on all product line work, proposals, and client activity.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, finance, health or public administration, management, or a related field.

  • Working knowledge in the areas of hospital/healthcare settings such as cost reporting, IME/GME bad debt, wage index reviews, DSH and other areas as assigned to include health insurance practices, industry regulatory requirements and technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solving or detective style thinking in order to interface with BESLER staff, as well as with the client, in order to effectively detect areas with potential problems and ability to recommend solutions.
  • A minimum of 1-3 year’s healthcare or related business experience required along with strong organizational skills.
  • Skills in using mainframe and PC computers and related software essential to effective and efficient performance.
  • Knowledge of medical and general industry terminology

We are currently seeking a Coding Analyst, Inpatient. This position can work remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing BESLER’s revenue integrity platform, review claims at all levels of complexity for inpatient claims:
      • Ability to read, decipher and analyze all aspects of medical record documentation for accurate coding.
      • Review whether the diagnoses and procedures (represented by the ICD-10-CM/PCS coding) are accurate.
      • Review whether DRG’s are assigned correctly, and if all diagnoses and procedure codes and MCC/CCs are identified.
  • Support and engage in education presentations (both face-to-face and remotely) associated with audit and review activities.
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory agencies standards, i.e., CMS, OIG, AHA, etc.
  • Seeks opportunities for individual growth and development, including attending various meetings, conferences, and courses, as required,
  • Responsible for meeting departmental productivity and quality expectations.
  • Consult with client organizations and their department heads at the direction of the service line Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with other service line team members to meet client demands and to develop strategies for service line growth and operational improvement.
  • Communicate consistently with all project team members and general BESLER colleagues regarding the status and results of service line business operations.
  • Contribute to publications, presentations, and white papers on behalf of organization, as requested.
  • Carry out all other ad hoc requests, as determined by business needs.
  • Travel to client sites, as may be required.
  • This position performs other duties, as assigned.

  • Continuing Compliance Education Plan – Complete all on-line modules within the prescribed timeframe.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related field, Associates in Health Information Technology minimally acceptable
  • RHIA or RHIT preferred, CCS credential required
  • A minimum, 3+ years’ experience with inpatient auditing and reviewing cases.
  • Demonstrates competency in use of computer applications in I (i.e., Cerner, EPIC, Meditech, etc.)  and knowledge in DRG grouping software.
  • Computer proficiency as related to MS Office and in-house proprietary software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in hospital/healthcare settings such as revenue cycle, coding, and reimbursement.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS required; ICD-10-CM/PCS AHIMA Approved Trainer experience highly desired.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with high-level of management.
  • Detailed-oriented and able to meet targeted deadlines.

We are currently seeking a DRG Coding Analyst Validator. This position can work remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing BESLER’s revenue integrity platform, review claims at all levels of complexity for inpatient claims:
  • Ability to read, decipher and analyze all aspects of medical record documentation for accurate coding.
  • Responsible for reviewing inpatient coding (ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes) to ensure accuracy and completeness of records coded by the coding staff for multiple clients.
  • Validate the ICD-10-CM and PCS codes, principal and secondary diagnoses
  • Assignment appropriateness to ensure consistency and efficiency and to optimize DRG reimbursement and facilitate data quality in hospital inpatient services.
  • Review physician documentation for specificity, completeness, and quality to support coding accuracy, and to identify physician query opportunities to improve the documentation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory agencies standards, i.e., CMS, OIG, AHA, etc.
  • Seeks opportunities for individual growth and development, including attending various meetings, conferences, and courses, as required,
  • Responsible for meeting departmental productivity and quality expectations.
  • Consult with client organizations and their department heads at the direction of the service line director.
  • Collaborate with other service line team members to meet client demands and to develop strategies for service line growth and operational improvement.
  • Communicate consistently with all project team members and general BESLER colleagues regarding the status and results of service line business operations.
  • Contribute to developing coding education and training and institutional coding policies to achieve coding excellence and to enhance internal, proprietary software used as an analytical tool.

Demonstrated abilities and experience in the following areas:

  • A minimum, 3+ years’ experience with inpatient auditing and reviewing cases.
  • Strong coding knowledge and follow the official coding rules, guidelines, and conventions to validate coded data and ensure high quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates competency in the use of computer applications in the EHR (i.e., Cerner, EPIC, Meditech, etc.) and knowledge in DRG grouping software.
