On Friday, July 15th, 2016, CMS issued Transmittal number 1681 to One Time Notification 100-20.
Some of the major takeaways from this notice are:
- CMS released updated SSI data for calculation of the disproportionate share adjustment for IPPS hospitals and the low income patient (LIP) adjustment for IRFs as well as payments as applicable for LTCH discharges for Federal Fiscal Year 2014 Cost Reports; normally this is released in late May so hospitals were awaiting this data.
- For Hospitals – https://www.cms.gov/medicare/medicare-fee-for-service-payment/acuteinpatientpps/dsh.html
- For IRFs – https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Medicare-Fee-for-Service-Payment/InpatientRehabFacPPS/SSIData.html
- CMS listed instructions for accepting FFY 2014 amended cost reports from hospitals requesting to revise their Worksheet S-10 (Medicare cost reports submitted on/after October 1, 2013 and prior to October 1, 2014). This data information per the FY 2017 IPPS proposed rule may potentially impact FFY 2018–2020 Medicare Disproportionate Sharer (DSH) payments in FY 2018. . Providers were instructed to submit their amended S-10 data by Friday, September 30, 2016.
