Kelly Wisness: Hi, this is Kelly Wisness. Welcome back to the award-winning Hospital Finance Podcast. We’re pleased to welcome back Christina Brown, BESLER’s Vice President of Reimbursement Services. In this episode, Christina will provide us with a glimpse into BESLER’s upcoming Reimbursement Symposium that we’re hosting live on Wednesday, August 13, starting at noon Eastern Time. Welcome back, and thanks for joining us, Christina.
Christina Brown: Thanks so much, Kelly. It’s always a pleasure to be here.
Kelly: Yes. Well, I know you were just here, but it’s great to have you back. So, let’s go ahead and jump in. So, for those who have never attended our annual Reimbursement Symposium, can you share what can be expected from this event? And how does it differ from BESLER’s regular webinars?
Christina: Sure. Yeah, this webinar is actually pretty exciting. It’s jam packed with a lot of content. So typically with our webinars, we offer an hour, and of course we have CPEs for that hour, or you can get one CPE. This webinar, however, it’s not just one person such as myself drawing on for an hour. It’s actually going to be multiple individuals. So, you’ll get to hear from other intelligent individuals that we have here at BESLER, so. And one great thing about this is you’ll actually earn three hours of CPEs if you stay for the whole thing. So yeah, a lot of content will be covered. And as I mentioned, this content is going to be from multiple individuals. So, you’ll have some regular education-type things. But we’re also going to include an exclusive sneak peek into our BESLER OMNIA platform. So we’re going to be showing you kind of what’s available right now and kind of what we’re doing with the platform, and how we’re using it, and how we’re making our lives better, as well as we’ll also provide you with a sneak peek of what’s on our roadmap of the exciting things that we have to come, which we’re very excited to talk about and to share with you. Another great thing is you’ll also get to hear from our wonderful CEO, Jonathan Besler. So, I know that he’s not typically on for our normal webinars, but he’s going to be on for this one.
Kelly: Yeah, it’s going to be a great event. I know it’s shaping up to have a lot of great content, so I’m looking forward to it as well. So, you kind of alluded that you’re going to have some different presenters on. So, what are the topics on the agenda this year?
Christina: Sure. So, as I talked about previously, obviously we’re going to be talking about our BESLER OMNIA platform, and that’s actually going to be co-presented by myself, showing you samples of what’s in there and being in the software so you can see exactly what it looks like. And I’ll also be presenting that with our Director of Products, Chris Bodam, who is excited to share what we have on our agenda on the roadmap for BESLER OMNIA in the future. We’re also going to hear from Cody Bales, who’s our resident wage index expert. He is Manager of Reimbursement, and he always provides great content. So, I’m always happy to hear him share his knowledge of what he has. We’ll also be hearing from Andrew Kinneman and Jeff Wolf. Andrew Kinneman is our Reimbursement Manager. You probably heard him on other webinars. He always does a great job and shares a lot of great content. And Jeff Wolf is our Director of Reimbursement Software. They’re going to be talking about the Home Office Update. And since BESLER is a certified vendor of the Home Office, so we’re one of two vendors for the 2552-10. We’ve also been certified for the Home Office. So, they’re going to be able to provide some great insight on the Home Office updates.
Kelly: Wow, it’s going to be a packed agenda with some really great speakers. I know we’ve heard all of them speak in the past. You all do a great job. So can you tell us a little bit more about what we can expect from the wage index portion that Cody’s presenting?
Christina: Sure. Cody always provides a lot of great information on this particular topic. From what I understand, he’s going to go and take a deeper dive into the wage index and kind of give a more advanced viewpoint of that, which is always great. We always love to share best practices when it comes to wage index. So, he’ll be talking about the impact of wage index, some of the basics, how is the wage index measured? And then he’ll also maybe talk about what are some ways to increase the wage index. What is an hour? What’s not an hour? Some tactics, maybe for some wage related cost optimization. He might even go into some occupational mix review and utilizing the geographic reclassifications. So, he is going to be covering quite a bit as it relates to wage index and just really taking a deep dive into that topic.
Kelly: That sounds like it’s going to be fantastic. Cody always does a great job. So do you know what types of things Jeff and Andrew will be discussing during their session on the 287-22?
Christina: Sure, yeah. Actually, I did get a sneak peek of what they’re going to be talking about, and they are jam-packed with information on the 287. So, they’re going to be talking about Home Office, the background of the Home Office cost report. They’re going to be talking about the purpose of the 287-22 schedules. And if you’re not familiar, the 287 did recently go through a change. It was the 287-05, and now it’s the 287-22. So, there was some significant form changes for those that may not be aware of that. They’re also going to talk about the Home Office schedules and the individual detailed breakdown of what’s in each. They’re going to talk about the flow of data through the 287-22, along with some special issues with the 287-22. And they’ll also talk about current and future changes to the Home Office cost statement.
Kelly: Wow, again, we’re going to do a deep dive, and it’s going to be fantastic. I know Jeff and Andrew always do a great job as well. And you mentioned BESLER OMNIA earlier, so I know people are really interested in what’s going on with its development. So can you provide us with more of a sneak peek as to what you and Chris are going to be discussing during that session?
Christina: So yes, absolutely. We do want to make sure that we’re going to be educational with this. So, we will be showing what the 2552-10 looks like in our submission platform. Because people are always interested, “What’s the difference between you, and what’s on the market right now?” And if you haven’t seen what we have to offer, then you definitely want to be able to stay tuned for that. Because we are so excited to show you where we’re headed, Chris is actually going to lay out the roadmap for the exciting things that we have to come. And there are a lot of things that we really want to do. We’re going to continually enhance our BESLER OMNIA platform. So, we have a lot of wonderful things on the roadmap to share.
Kelly: That’s going to be exciting. I’m really looking forward to that. So, thank you so much for joining us, Christina, for sharing this sneak peek into BESLER’s upcoming Reimbursement Symposium that we’re presenting live on Wednesday, August 13th, starting at noon, Eastern Time. And as a bonus, as you mentioned earlier, you can earn up to three CPE. Thanks again, Christina.
Christina: Thank you so much.
Kelly: And thank you all for joining us for this episode of The Hospital Finance Podcast. Until next time…
