BESLER Consulting, a leading provider of comprehensive revenue recovery services to healthcare organizations, is pleased to announce that Memorial Health Care System, in Chattanooga, TN, has renewed its relationship with BESLER to conduct Transfer DRG underpayment recovery audits.
“It’s a pleasure to work with BESLER’s professional staff on our Transfer DRG underpayment recovery efforts,” commented Michael Sutton, Controller of Memorial Health Care System.
Under Medicare reimbursement regulations, when certain patients are discharged to post acute care, the discharging hospital is paid at a reduced rate. In some cases, this reduced payment is not justified by the actual post-discharge care. These underpayments are not reflective of coding or billing errors on the part of the provider, but more commonly result from a change in the planned course of treatment subsequent to discharge.
BESLER uses proprietary software to efficiently work through the identification and follow-up tasks required to validate the accuracy of post-acute care transfers and ensure compliance. This process typically identifies 30% additional revenue when conducted after another vendor or an internal effort. BESLER also offers BVerified℠ – Transfer DRG, a web-based solution which automates the work of identifying, prioritizing and recovering Transfer DRG underpayments.
“We’re very pleased to continue our relationship with Memorial Health Care System,” commented Jonathan Besler, President and Chief Executive Officer of BESLER. “We believe our Transfer DRG recovery process is the most effective in the industry while at the same time maintaining a strong emphasis on compliance.”
